ROANOKE, Va. – It turns out that all Rey Mysterio & Kane needed was a little help from an associate – in this case, each other – to take down the threat of MVP & Big Daddy V on Friday night.
Last week on SmackDown, Mysterio fell to MVP in a non-title match, thanks to the United States Champion’s use of the top rope. As for Kane, it was an appearance by Mark Henry that cost him an Extreme Rules Match against Big Daddy V Tuesday night on ECW. Having presumably seen what had happened to the other, both Mysterio & Kane certainly had reason to watch each other’s backs once their huge tag team opportunity rolled around this week.
The United States Champion and his 500-pound partner looked downright dominant at times, but in the end, the Master of the 619 and the Big Red Monster got the duke. With the two monsters occupying each other outside the ring, Mysterio flattened MVP with a 619 and springboard splash to claim the victory.
Rey’s budding rivalry with the Ballin’ Superstar seems to have picked up a big head of steam. With Friday’s pinfall over MVP, is an opportunity at the United States Championship potentially in Rey’s future?
Fool me once, shame on you…
Jamie Noble also seems to be on a roll, as for the second straight week, he scored a pinfall victory over Chuck Palumbo. Once again, Noble tried to use his Southern charm on Michelle McCool earlier in the night. This time, however, he wasn’t just blown off by the beautiful blonde; Noble was also accosted by Palumbo, who brushed aside last week’s match as a “fluke” in Noble’s favor.
That may have been an oversight on Palumbo’s part, as the motorcycle enthusiast once again wheeled home with the loser’s share of the purse this week. Just like in their previous encounter, Noble was able to take advantage of one tiny mistake in the corner of the ring; when Chuck got hung up after missing a kick, Noble rolled him up for the 1-2-3.
Leprechaun crosses the tracks
While it’s unclear whether Belfast, Northern Ireland or the Other Side of the Tracks is a tougher neighborhood, our fans got a glimpse of resolution when Finlay & Hornswoggle took on Deuce & Domino. Michael Cole & JBL wondered on commentary whether or not having the littlest McMahon as his partner made Finlay an underdog against the former WWE Tag Team Champions – but as they have quite often in the past, the Irishmen proved that they make one dangerous team.
Late in the bout, things looked bleak for Hornswoggle when Deuce & Domino ditched Finlay and cornered the little man. But when they attempted to whip the pint-sized prankster with their belts, the referee confiscated the leather lashers. That allowed Finlay to grab his shillelagh, and with the ref’s back turned, the ornery Irishman gave Deuce a crack in his own mouth with the wooden weapon. One Tadpole Splash later, Finlay & Hornswoggle were victorious.
After witnessing his son’s victory, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon met with Ranjin Singh later in the night. After making Singh act out some impressions – including one of Hornswoggle and one of Singh’s own client, The Great Khali – the Chairman and the translator made sure that Khali was ready for his big match with Finlay at Armageddon.
You made your bed, now lie in it
ECW Champion CM Punk made another appearance on Friday Night SmackDown, battling Kenny Dykstra in a non-title match. Punk gutted out a tough victory when these two met in the Land of the Extreme two weeks ago, but the self-proclaimed “future Hall of Famer” hoped things would be different on his home turf.
The Straightedge Superstar had other plans, however. Despite putting up a valiant effort, Dykstra hit another speed bump on road to the Hall of Fame; this time, he got to Go to Sleep in his own bed – or ring, as it were – as the ECW Champion made it 2-for-2 against the 21-year-old.
Three-dogged night
Thanks to his main squeeze, General Manager Vickie Guerrero, Edge got his chance to regain the World Heavyweight Championship from Batista in SmackDown’s much-anticipated main event. The Rated-R Superstar dedicated the match to Vickie – who is still recuperating from Undertaker’s attack the previous week – but someone else would later have a dedication of their own for Edge.
Just when Batista looked like he was ready to finally beat Edge in a championship match for the first time this year, Undertaker returned a favor to the Rated-R Superstar by interrupting the match. Edge felt Batista’s spear, but when the Rated-R Superstar bailed out of the ring, The Phenom lashed out at the closest Superstar he could find, dropping Batista with a Phenom-enal chokeslam. But when all was said and done, a returning Theodore Long was the one to drop the biggest bombshell.

John Morrison & The Miz v. Jesse and Festus
Jesse and Morrison started things off and had a fun little mat exchange before Morrison began his hot shotty nonsense before eating a hot shotty hurricanranna himself from Jesse that bought the pseudo challenger a two count.
Festus tagged in and totally demolished Morrison and after a double team body slam, Morrison found himself nearly pinned again. Miz made his way into the match and had equally limited success against Jesse, getting nailed with an arm drag, drop kick and finding himself stuck in a front face lock.
As soon as he broke it Festus came reeling in and Morrison isn’t even bothering with saves. Both heels are flat on their backs on the outside and being totally dominated.

Morrison & Miz found themselves on the attack when we got back from the break, as Morrison brought us back with a catapult elbow for a two count. Morrison hit a running knee before goading Festus some and slapping on a rear chin lock. Miz tagged in and continued the assault with his running knee in the corner for a two count.
Morrison tagged back in in quick order, hammering away with body shots before taking off Jesse’s head off with a boot. Morrison slapped on an anaconda vice of sorts before Jesse fought his way to his feet and out of the heel corner before getting caught with a drop toe hold. Jesse kept up the agile-ness though and rolled through and around Miz and Morrison to make the tag.
Festus came in all over the place and just began doing a demolition job times ten. After dropping everyone to the mat and slapping them around, he tagged in his partner and launched him off the top rope. Jesse hit the forearm to the face and went for the cover but the official was busy trying to get Festus out of the ring and Morrison made the save.
Jesse wiggled out of a roll up attempt but was stuck on the apron a little too long and was snap mared off the top rope. He careened back into a Miz roll up that stuck, and this one’s over.

Shelton Benjamin v. Shannon Moore
Shelton took Moore down and bullied him into the corner but was kicked back. Moore fought back with some right hands but soon found himself getting decked with a knee to the gut before eating a quick snapping belly to belly.
Shelton pounded Moore on the ropes and hit a super crisp Exploder suplex. Shelton kept up the pressure with a belly to back suplex before stepping on Moore’s fist and slapping on a rear chin lock.
Benjamin broke the hold on his own accord and began clubbering Moore around the ring before Moore finally caught a quick roll up attempt and a nice drop kick. The momentum was short lived though as Shelton caught him leaping over the apron and hit him with some sort of STO - flip- ddt indy bullsh!t finisher.

Big Daddy V v. Kane
These two clacked off each other like two big boulders before V grabbed the advantage and dumped Kane to the floor. Kane grabbed a Singapore cane and began hitting V in the leg with it. V got fed up with it so he hit him with a belly to belly and then stood on him for fun.
Kane retreated to the outside where V chopped him but soon had the tables turned and was spiked off the ring steps. Kane went shopping under the ring and began tossing toys into the middle of the ring. V grabbed a street sign and nailed Kane in the back with it before dumping the big red machine back into the ring.
V grabbed a chair on the outside and came into the ring only to eat the metal when Kane kicked it into his face. Kane hit the flying clothesline and set up V’s throat to get stomped with the chair as a fulcrum, but V quickly recovered and knocked him back to the outside.
While V did the whole dominate people thing in the ring, Matt Striker went under the ring and slid a table into the ring. V set up the table in the corner before retrieving Kane and spiking him off it. V came running off the ropes and hit the big avalanche, sending both through the table, but Kane was able to kick out at two on the cover attempt.
V’s arm has a nice spoon-sized cut on it. V got another table and set it up in the middle of the ring. V clubbed Kane and landed a head butt before Kane came back with some big right hands. The two exchanged strikes before Kane gained the advantage and got in a couple of strikes with a Singapore cane. Kane decked V with a garbage can shot but Mark Henry showed up out of nowhere with a garbage can shot of his own.
Kane dies about 600 more times, taking repeated weapons shots, avalanche’s and head butts. Kane gets choke slammed through a table as clean as you could imagine and it’s over.

A video aired putting over Randy Orton’s path of destruction over the past few months before cutting into Jericho stuff. Opening Pyro. JR yelling a lot. Raw is on.
Triple H’s music hit and he came out to the entrance ramp.
Triple H & Jeff Hardy v. Umaga & Snitsky
Snitsky and Hardy started things off. Snitsky tossed Hardy aside like a baby before Hardy realized the whole strength thing sorta sucked for him so he tagged in Triple H. The two locked horns and struggled. Snitsky broke with a shoulder thrust but missed a follow up in the opposite corner and crashed into the ring post. Triple H yanked on the arm before tagging in Jeff who came flying off the top with an axe handle.
Jeff dumped Snitsky to the outside and hit him with a drop kick. He ducked out of the way of the oncoming Umaga who sailed over the top rope and to the floor. Hardy went for a cross body on both, but was caught easily. Triple H saw this all transpire of course, and elected to fling himself off the apron to give Hardy the weight advantage he needed. The faces were standing tall in the ring while the heels regrouped as we went to commercial.

We came back to Jeff Hardy desperately trying fight off Umaga who just picked him up and did his whirly bird side slam that left Hardy in pieces on the mat. Snitsky tagged in and hit a suplex for a near fall before gathering the tiny champ and grabbed a double under hook reverse full nelson thingy.
Snitsky slammed him before tagging in Umaga. Umaga buried a series of kicks into Hardy’s chest before taking his head off with a wheel kick for a two count. Umaga briefly grabbed the old shoulder vice before electing to give Snitsky the opportunity to inflict some more pain.
Snitsky missed a clothesline and Hardy hit a drop kick, dazing Snitsky. Snitsky cut off the hot tag but got duffed with a mule kick and the Game got the tag. Umaga received one himself and he and Triple H went at it. Triple H capped a big rally with a clothesline for a two count before hitting the face buster followed by a spine buster. He went for a pedigree, but Snitsky came roaring in with a clothesline attempt.
Triple H countered and went for a pedigree on Snitsky but got cut off by Umaga. Snitsky and Triple H brawled on the outside while Umaga was busy mauling Jeff Hardy. The Game pulled Hardy out of the way and Hardy hit a whisper in the wind. Triple H pounced and connected with a pedigree followed by a Jeff Hardy swanton bomb for the win. Fun ending sequence there.

Raw GM William Regal’s music hit and he came out to the ring. Regal congratulated them on their victory. He said he wanted to see both in action at Armageddon. He said Hardy wouldn’t be defending his championship, instead, he’d be going one on one with Triple H.

Ric Flair’s music hit and he came out to the ring.
Flair got a huge, huge pop and he thanked the crowd. He said there was a lot of discussion as to why he chose his hometown to make this announcement tonight. He said the crowd has been too good to him there for him not to choose this as the place to make the announcement. Tears welled up in Flair’s eyes.
He said there was a reason he hadn’t been wrestling for six months. He said he knew and the fans knew his career couldn’t go on forever. He said he’s had a lot of time to think about his future. He said he’s compared himself to Cal Ripkin and Bret Farve, two athletes who were iron men. He said tonight in front of everyone and the world, that he WOULD NEVER RETIRE. HE WON’T RETIRE UNTIL HE”S DEAD. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHO CARES WHAT HE’S SAYING FLAIR SAYS SHUT UP IDIOTS! WOOOOO! JUICE!
Vince McMahon’s music hit and he came down to the ring.
Flair doesn’t look thrilled. Vince said Ric had him going. He was thrilled that Flair wouldn’t retire and he was a pretty good piece of property. He said he could keep going on as long as he could keep on winning. He said the first match he loses, his career would be over.
Vince said he didn’t care how it happened, the next time he lost, he was done. He said he hoped Ric didn’t die anytime soon. Randy Orton’s music hit and out to the ring he comes. The WWE Champion stared down Flair in the ring. Orton came out to thank him, thanking him for all the advice and his friendship during his formative years. Orton thanked him for the legend he’s become. He wanted to thank him in advance for the honor and pleasure of ending his career tonight. Vince has made the match. Flair v. Hardcore Holly, Cody Rhodes, Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Super Crazy v. The Highlanders and Cade & Murdoch
Crazy and Rory started things off. Crazy grabbed an arm wringer before tagging in Duggan. Duggan hit some clubbing blows and tagged in Rhodes who drove an elbow into the shoulder of the Scotsman.
Rory hit a cheap shot before tagging in Lance Cade. Cade hammered the shoulder of Rhodes and flung him into the ring post. The two duked it out in the corner before getting cut off and slapped into an arm bar. Murdoch tagged in and began clubbing away before slapping on a key lock on the youngster.
Rhodes broke free of the hold and hot tagged Hardcore Holly who flat backed Robbie a few times with rights and then dispatching him with a clothesline. Holly hit a drop kick for a near fall before all hell broke loose. Holly ended up in the ring alone with Robbie and kicked him in the junk. He loaded up the Alabama slam and connected for the win.

Jeff Hardy is with Todd Grisham and talking about what an honor it’d be facing the Game at Armageddon. Triple H stepped in and said he wasn’t good at the friends thing. He said there was a reason he was the best. At Armageddon, he’d be stepping in the ring with the Game.
Jim Ross ran down the events of last week between Shawn Michaels and Mr. Kennedy.
Kennedy’s on the stick more or less in the back. He put over HBK’s DVD that’s coming out tomorrow. Kennedy figured he’d save HBK the cheap shill and give us his take on things. He said this three disc set had everything in HBK’s career: His turning on all his partners, HBK coming up short in all his main event matches and that wasn’t all. He said not only was Shawn good at losing matches, he was good at losing his, uh, smile. Touching Kennedy says. He said there wasn’t all heartbreak, there was triumph too! He said there was HBK whining, complaining and politicking his way into main event status despite talented, hungry main event talent that had surpassed him. He said people would be enriched by the DVD. They would see his incredible highs and abysmal lows. He said nothing though, would compare to the lows he’d feel when he stepped into the ring with Mr. Kennedy.
Chris Jericho speaks next!

Flair is in the back with Arn Anderson and Barry f-ing Windham.
Jericho time.
Jericho said the second coming of Y2J was here. He said there was only one way to Rock and that was the way he rocked. He said he was here to save us from Orton and become WWE Champion. He said everyone except Randy Orton knew Jericho wanted a WWE title match. He didn’t receive a response from Orton because he was an idiot. He said he’d ask it shortly and Orton-ize it. Me Want Title Match.
Jericho said even if Mr. O didn’t get it he brought visual aides. The WWE title belt, a match stick and Cookie monster were all used. Yes, I said Cookie monster. Jericho said he was going to stay in the ring all night until he got his answer.
Santino Marella’s music hit and here comes glorious mic work. Marella is talking. In other news, the sun came up. He called Jericho K-YJ. Good lord. Jericho has a Lindsay Lohan hair cut as well. Jericho said he was embarrassed. He didn’t know who he was. He knew Freddy the popcorn guy, Lillian, Steve the camera guy…Jericho insulted Marella’s name a bunch of times before Santino reminded him who his name was.
He said Orton didn’t give him an answer because he didn’t deserve a title match and he’d prove it right now. Jericho said ok. Santino said he hadn’t wrestled for three years and he didn’t want to fight him. Jericho said he did. Santino rolled out of the ring and let us all know he would be squat thrusting to warm up. Awesome.
Out of nowhere, Santino said he was going to give him something to think about and jumped King at the announce table. Santino’s going to warm up so we can have a match.

Chris Jericho v. Santino Marella
Jericho put the hurt on Santino early, chopping his nipples off before hitting a vertical suplex. Santino hit a throat thrust but ended up eating a thumb to the eye in short order. Jericho hit a high back body drop and a spring board drop kick to send Santino out to the outside.
Jericho followed him to the outside and pummeled him some more before tossing him back into the ring and mapping out some big kicks to the gut. Jericho kept up the pressure but Santino held up on a whip attempt and Jericho landed on his back. Santino mounted him and nailed him with some forearms and stomps to the mid section.
Santino got a brief pinning spot before hitting a back suplex and getting a full one count this time. Santino put on a high bear hug in a cross face position before Jericho fought to his feet and killed him with a stiff lariat. Jericho hit some body slams before hitting an atomic drop followed by a bulldog.
Jericho lined Santino up and hit a back-cracker like double knees to the face and absolutely mauled the shrimpy Italian. That’s all she wrote folks.
Winner: Chris Jericho via pin fall
After the match, Jericho invited Lawler into the ring. Lawler, never shy to take advantage of a situation, waited for Santino to rise to his feet before hitting him with PUNCHES~ and flattening him with a pair of knee lifts. Lawler mounted the second rope and FIST DROP!!!!!!!! I love Lawler.
I guess Jericho is calling the new finisher the ‘Code Breaker’. Jericho’s on the commentary team and he wants a title match. Still.

Shawn Michaels hugged Ric Flair in the back. Michaels said he came here to watch him. He said Orton was on a roll lately, he knew better than anyone. He said though, that he was the Nature Boy. This is Charlotte. He said he was the 16 time champion. He said he was the one and only legend this industry would ever, ever have. He said he was the wheeling’, dealing’, kiss stealing’ greatest wrestler ever. He said to be the man, he had to beat him. He said tonight. Just tonight…. He couldn’t do it.
Flair thanked him for his respect and the bond they’ve had. He said he’d give us everything he had and if he goes out, it’ll be in a blaze of glory. HBK looked off solemnly as Flair walked off, as not looking too sure.

Mr. Kennedy v. Brian Kendrick
The two locked it up and Kendrick grabbed a side headlock before Kennedy threw him to his back. He slapped Kendrick to the ropes only for Kendrick to come back at him with an ultra quick drop kick. The momentum was short lived though, as Kennedy flat backed him with a lariat.
Kennedy hit a sling shot off the bottom rope before gathering him and hitting a nasty STO for the win. It’s officially “Everyone debut a new finisher” night.
Winner: Mr. Kennedy via pin fall
Kennedy said that was just a little sample of what we’d see on HBK’s next DVD or everyone could watch it live and in person at Armageddon. Kennedy reminded us who he was, as if we forgot.

Finlay as giant killer may make me explode from the awesomeness of the thought. He dismissed his son before saying “Mr. Rogers has left the neighborhood” over a walky talky.
Hornswoggle is walking around the back and goes to get an ice cream sandwich. Carlito’s waiting for him in the locker room. Carlito cornered him before Hornswoggle sprays paint on a door on the wall and ran through it. Carlito’s baffled. We all are. Carlito made a run at it and slammed up against the door. Ron Simmons happens to walk in and we get a damn.

Mickie James v. Melina
Beth Phoenix is at ringside for the match in case you care.
The lesbian-ish looks are glorious.
The two locked it up and Melina grabbed an arm wringer. Mickie kicked out and hit a forearm before Melina returned the favor. Melina hit a kick to the face for a one count before Mickie came firing back with a hard irish whip. Melina got her furry boots up though and went to the second rope. Mickie cut her off and chucked her across the ring.
Mickie wasted no time and hit the thesz press and some punches for a one count before Melina caught a roll up. Melina bum rushed her to the corner and hit some forearms before Mickie hit the good old head scissors. Mickie loaded up a ridiculous implant DDT and good lord, it’s Mickie-Beth at Armageddon.
Winner: Mickie James via pin fall
Mickie blew Beth a kiss after the match.
Naitch is in his Monday best and on his way to the ring. Everyone’s clapping for him in the back as he’s on the way to the ring. Triple H came up to him and shook his hand. He told him to show us who he is. Here we go.

Winners: Triple H & Jeff Hardy via pin fall
Raw GM William Regal’s music hit and he came out to the ring. Regal congratulated them on their victory. He said he wanted to see both in action at Armageddon. He said Hardy wouldn’t be defending his championship, instead, he’d be going one on one with Triple H.

Flair got a huge, huge pop and he thanked the crowd. He said there was a lot of discussion as to why he chose his hometown to make this announcement tonight. He said the crowd has been too good to him there for him not to choose this as the place to make the announcement. Tears welled up in Flair’s eyes.

He said he’s compared himself to Cal Ripkin and Bret Farve, two athletes who were iron men. He said tonight in front of everyone and the world, that he WOULD NEVER RETIRE.

****Commercial****
Mr.

Vince was with Hornswoggle. He went over the events of the past few weeks with his son. He talked about Finlay and Khali and said they should have a match.

A clip of last week, with MVP attacking Matt Hardy aired. Michael Cole said Matt was out indefinitely due to the injury, with no mention of the appendix emergency. The duo had a huge wank-session in the ring, seemingly trying to out-compliment each other. JBL then presented MVP with a gift, that being a U.S. Champion ring. The mic was turned over to MVP, and he said he has lived up to the hype thus far. MVP’s diatribe was interrupted by Rey Mysterio. Rey was pissed and called MVP “rookie,” and a “punk.” He accused MVP of being scared, which would explain him ducking Matt Hardy. MVP hauled off and punched Rey right in the mouth. Rey got back up and dropkicked MVP, but Porter got out of the way before Rey could hit the 619. Mic work wasn’t so hot from Rey, but this should be a good program.

The finish saw James Mitchell try to interfere, but Abyss put Reign's rat down his clothes and Abyss took a shot on the board full of rat traps. Abyss then dodged a brass knucks shot and hit a Black Hole Slam for the win. After the match, Abyss unlocked a black box at ringside. Inside was a wrestler with a red mask on (believed to be Johnny Stamboli doing his Red Rum gimmick). Reign and the wrestler beat up Abyss, put him in a box and pushed it off the entrance ramp. So much stuff went down that you almost couldn't believe what you just saw.
- Backstage, Jeremy Borash tried to find out who was in the limo that arrived earlier. A security guard told Borash to leave.
- Backstage, Crystal interviewed The Motor City Machineguns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley).
- The Motor City Machineguns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) defeated Team 3D. Very solid tag team match between these two teams. Sabin and Shelley attacked 3D during their entrance. The action spilled to the ring and 3D bailed from the ring early on when MCMG got in some offense. Sabin got taken out later on with some 3D double team moves. Brother Ray crotched both Sabin and Shelley on the turnbuckles when they were posing. Tons of quick offense by MCMG on Brother Devon at this point in the match. Ray pulled the referee out of the ring when Sabin had a pinfall on Devon. Ray then took off his belt and started whipping Sabin with it. Doomsday Device by 3D on Sabin, but Sabin kicked out during the close pinfall. 3D brought a table into the ring and put it in the corner despite the referee trying to prevent them from doing so. The finish saw Sabin run up the table, flip back and then send Devon through the table. MCMG then hit a double enziguiri kick on Ray to get the pinfall.
- Backstage, Jeremy Borash is with Kurt Angle, Karen Angle and Kevin Nash. Borash said he couldn't find out who was in the limo. Kurt and Karen started arguing. Angle asked Nash why he wasn't upset and then started accusing him of being in on the secret about Sting's mystery partner. Nash then threw Angle against the wall and told him to calm down.
- Backstage, Crystal interviewed TNA Women's Champion Gail Kim about her title defense tonight.
- Gail Kim defeated ODB, Roxxi Laveaux & Angel Williams in a Four Way Women's Match to retain the TNA Women's Title. Not much here as it was a fairly quick match. ODB was acting crazy throughout the match and the fans in Orlando seemed confused. The referee sent VKM to the back early on. ODB then continued the crazy and started slapping the ass of all the women in the ring. The finish saw Roxxi spit mist into the eyes of ODB allowing Kim to hit a modified neckbreaker on ODB to get the pinfall. After the match, Awesome Kong appeared and stared down Gail Kim.
- Backstage, Jeremy Borash is with Karen Angle. They approach the limo and Karen opens the door. James Storm and Eric Young were inside the limo drinking. Looks like it was the wrong limo.
- Jay "Black Machismo" Lethal defeated Sonjay Dutt to retain the TNA X Division Title. Dutt took out Lethal early on with a quick flip dive over the top rope to the outside. Lots of quick back and forth action between the two early on as well. Dutt grounded the action by applying a body scissors submission on Lethal. Another quick spot saw Lethal hit a suicide dive through the ropes on Dutt on the outside. Dutt responded with a Camel Clutch on Lethal in the ring. The finish saw Lethal hit the Lethal Combination followed by a flying elbow off the top rope to get the pinfall on Dutt to retain the title. After the match, Lethal and Dutt hugged and then So Cal Val was invited in. Team 3D then ran out and started attacking Lethal and Dutt. Ray got on the mic and said Sabin and Shelley cheated. Ray said they were taking the X Division Title hostage and left with the belt.
- Backstage, Crystal was with Kevin Nash. Nash said he knows that Sting's partner won't be Scott Hall tonight after what went down on Impact.
- AJ Styles & Tomko defeated The Steiner Brothers to retain the TNA World Tag Team Titles. The match started off early on with AJ Styles and Scott Steiner. Scott kept taking out out Styles, causing Tomko and Rick to get tags. Scary moment saw Rick hit Tomko with a botched Death Valley Driver. Tomko looked a bit dazed, but responded with a quick clothesline on Rick. Scott got the tag and Styles and Tomko did some double-teaming. Tomko broke up a pinfall attempt on AJ after a top rope bulldog by Rick went down. The finish saw the referee get bumped allowing Styles to hit a low blow on Rick followed by a steel chair shot. Styles got the pinfall on Rick to retain the tag titles.
- Backstage, Crystal was with Robert Roode. Roode reminded Samoa Joe that he made him bleed.
- A second limo was shown arriving to the Impact Zone. This one was white.
- Samoa Joe defeated Robert Roode. They showed the female fan in the crowd holding up a sign asking Robert Roode to hire her. She again stared down Ms. Brooks. Early on in the match, Roode jumped over the top rope and tried to take out Joe, but Joe moved out of the way. Joe put Roode on a chair at ringside to do the Ole kick, but Roode stood up and sent Joe's knee into the guard railing instead. Joe responded sending Roode into the steel steps and then hitting the Ole kick. A shot of a knocked out Ms. Brooks at ringside was shown and the announcers have no idea how it happened. In the ring, Joe applied an STF on Roode that was eventually broken up when Roode got to the ropes. They kept showing shots of Ms. Brooks knocked out being checked on by EMTs. The finish saw Roode attempt The Payoff, but Joe blocked it and hit the Muscle Buster for the win.
- Backstage, Karen Angle tried to tell Kurt Angle that everything was under control. Kurt didn't believe her and left the room. A shot of Angle going out the parking area to the white limo was shown, but Sting cut him off from getting close.
- Backstage, Crystal was with Christian Cage along with AJ Styles and Tomko. Cage said he is used to people trying to make a name off him and hopes Kaz is ready for tonight. Cage told Styles and Tomko to stay in the back because he didn't need help tonight. Styles winked and said okay. Cage said he was serious.
- A video recap of the Fight for the Right tournement is shown. Junior Fatu is not shown or mentioned.
- Kaz defeated Christian Cage in a "Fight For The Right" Tournament Final Ladder Match to become the #1 contender for the TNA World Title. Very good match between these two guys. Big spot early on in the match where Cage put the ladder across the ring apron and guard railing, put Kaz on top and connected with a Frog Splash from the top rope. A second ladder was brought in and both ladders were setup next to each other with both men climbing up. Cage reached over and took out Kaz with reverse DDT off the ladders. Another big spot saw Kaz attempt a leg drop on Cage from the ladder, but Cage moved and Kaz landed on another ladder. Cage setup the ladder again and went for the contract on a clipboard, but Kaz dropkicked him off. The contract actually fell off the clipboard and it was noted by the referee that the way to win was to get the clipboard. This is bringing back bad memories when the "X" kept falling during past Ultimate X matches. The finish saw AJ Styles and Tomko come out, which distracted Cage. This allowed Kaz to push Cage off the ladder and onto Styles and Tomko at ringside. Kaz then went up the ladder and got the clipboard to get the win.
- Backstage, Jeremy Borash checks on James Storm and Eric Young who were still having a drinking contest from earlier in the night. Storm was passed out and Young stole the "drinking championship belt" that Storm was bragging about earlier.
As assumed, Sting's mystery partner tonight in the Genesis tag team main event is Booker T. They really built the anticipation for the announcement with some slow music until the familiar "CAN YOU DIG IT, SUCKA?" line hit the speakers.
(8) Tag for the Title for the TNA World Title: Kevin Nash & Kurt Angle (c) vs Sting & BOOKER T. His entrance theme sounds just like his WWE one. Great crowd reaction for Booker. Nash looks worse than ever in the ring. He seems like he can hardly move around. Booker does the Spinaroonie and the crowd goes nuts. Booker hits the axe kick on Angle but Nash breaks up the pin.
Booker hits the axe kick on Angle but Nash breaks up the pin. Karen distracted the ref. which brought out Sharmell to stop her. Styles and Tomko ran down to the ring and laid out Sting which allows for Angle to get the pin and retain his title.

Abyss got a barbed wire bat and hit Reign with it a few times. They did a big spot where Abyss chokeslammed Reign off the stage. WWE Smackdown! (10.9.07) Results
-Smackdown Open (no WWE open?).
-It’s only NINE DAYS until Survivor Series? It feels like Cyber Sunday was last Sunday. Yeesh.
-Tonight, Rey Mysterio faces Finlay and Undertaker takes on Great Khali in a No-Holds Barred Match.
1- TAG TEAM BATTLE ROYAL- JESSE & FESTUS, THE MAJOR BROTHERS, DAVE TAYLOR & DREW MCINTYRE, DEUCE ‘N DOMINO, JIMMY YANG & SHANNON MOORE
The winners face MVP & Hardy later tonight for the titles. When one man is eliminated, the team must go. Festus cleaned house on most of the guys. Jesse got sent shoulder-first into the post by Deuce, and landed on the outside. The combatants started ganging up on Festus, and they tossed him at 1:03. Yang and Moore used some double-teaming to beat up Taylor. This match really shows how shallow the tag division is. McIntyre and Taylor almost eliminated Yang, but he slid back in under the bottom rope. Deuce and Domino worked over one of the Major brothers. Lots of punching and kicking at this point. Yang was eliminated at 5:40 when he went for a high-risk move and Taylor pushed him off the top rope and out. Right after that, they went to break.
[Commercial Break]
The three teams that were in when they went to break were still in. Taylor was clotheslined over the top at 9:31 by a Major brother. It’s the Majors vs. Deuce ‘N Domino. I think they’re going for an underdog story here, but no one knows anything or cares about the Majors at this point I don’t think. Deuce landed on the apron and then applied the head-scissors. The greasers whipped one of the Majors against the ropes, he held on, and the former champs charged, but Major ducked low and both men went over. The Majors are the new number one contenders.
WINNERS: The Major Brothers at 11:56. This would be a good place for an interviewer to come down and talk to the Major Brothers, let them show some personality or something.
-Backstage, Torrie was talking to Michelle McCool about Chuck Palumbo. Michelle was trying to convince Torrie they were just friends. Chuck came onto the scene, but so did Victoria and Dykstra. After a rude joke, Michelle nailed Victoria. They go one-on-one next.
-Later tonight, Rey Mysterio faces Finlay.
[Commercial Break]
-A clip of The Great Khali’s “shocking” debut aired, to preview his match tonight with Undertaker.
2- MICHELLE MCCOOL VS. VICTORIA
Both women were seconded by their men. Shoulderblock and quick cover by Michelle. Another one, to no avail. Victoria used the hair to take Michelle down. She worked a wrist-lock but Michelle showed some great athleticism and flipped out of it using the turnbuckle. Victoria got the advantage soon after and hit a suplex. Michelle came back with a dropkick and some chops. Big boot caught Victoria coming off the ropes. She missed a spinning side kick, as Kenny pulled Victoria out of harms way. Palumbo took care of him, but Victoria DDT’d Michelle back in the ring and got the victory.
WINNER: Victoria at 2:58. Michelle looked pretty decent in there tonight.
-Anastasia Rose was backstage with Rey Mysterio. She asked him about facing Finlay again tonight. Rey said he fears no one, certainly not Finlay. He basically rebutted Finlay’s comments from last week. I think he even threw out a Konnan catchphrase at the end (or part of it).
[Commercial Break]
-The “Save_Us” commercial from Raw aired.
-CM Punk was talking with Vickie Guerrero backstage when Jamie Noble barged in. He decided to bring a gift to her this week. It’s a VHS tape, I think, titled “Jamie Noble: The GREATEST little man.” He sounded like he was hitting on Vickie. Punk made fun of the tape, calling it “retro” and saying he didn’t know they made VHS anymore. CM said Vickie has done an awesome job thus far and Noble took exception. He said beating Punk would be easier than pie. Vickie made a match between them for tonight. You’d think by now that Noble would learn to stay away from Vickie’s office. Noble said Guerrero finally crossed the line tonight.
3- FINLAY VS. REY MYSTERIO
Finlay tried to bully and intimidate Rey early on. Mysterio pummeled Finlay, who tried to cover up, in the corner. Crowd was all over Finlay. Rey came off the top and headscissored Finlay over the top. Springboard moonsault, perfectly executed onto Finlay on the outside as they went to break.
[Commercial Break]
Rey was kicking at Finlay in the corner and Michael Cole informed us he had been the aggressor throughout the break. Finlay got in some offense, but not for long. Rey countered a move by jumping on Finlay like he was going to hurricanrana him, but Finlay instead threw him off and into the turnbuckle in a brutal-looking move. Finlay bodyslammed Rey, with Mysterio’s legs hitting the ropes on the way down. Boston crab was applied by Finlay. Rey went to the outside again, and Finlay threw him into the barricade. Back to the crab inside the ring. Rey got to the ropes to force a break. Rey would start coming back, but Finlay would go right after the back. This happened a couple times. Rey got a roll-up for a near-fall. The turnbuckle came off somehow and Finlay bounced Rey off the exposed steel when he tried ten punches in the corner. Finlay tried to get the Shillalieigh, but Rey neutralized him. Seated senton by Rey as he started his comeback. But he got put back down with a hard clothesline. Rey came back though, he missed a 619. He got a kick to the back of Finlay’s head however. Another seated senton, another two-count. Dropkick to the back followed by a 619 for Mysterio. Rey went for another senton (or the hurricanrana off the ropes) but Finlay hit the ropes and knocked Rey off. Celtic Cross finished it for Finlay.
WINNER: Finlay at 18:38. Very good match. Told a solid story. The moves were very crisp from both guys.
-Finlay wasn’t done though. He took a laptop from the announce table and rapped Rey in the head with it. He then rammed Rey ribs-first into the steel post on the outside. The Irishman picked up the Shillaleigh, but referee Jim Korderas made sure Finlay didn’t use it post-match. Good heat for Finlay.
-Another Khali moment, as he felled the Big Red Machine with the vice grip.
[Commercial Break]
4- CM PUNK VS. JAMIE NOBLE
Noble got the advantage with a headlock take-over, but Punk came back with some kicks. Punk dove through the middle rope onto Noble on the outside and came up holding his knee. Back in the ring, Noble hit a swinging neckbreaker. Punk got an overhead throw for a near fall. Noble connected with some knees to the head of Punk, and Punk did just the same. Running knee to the jaw followed by the bulldog by Punk. Punk got Noble up for his finisher when The Miz ran in for the DQ.
WINNER: Punk by DQ at 3:41. Just a glimpse of what these two could do against each other in the ring.
-Batista was walking backstage, on his way to the ring, next.
[Commercial Break]
-A video package hyping Hell in a Cell aired.
-Batista made his way out for an interview segment. JBL pretended to talk on his cell phone to avoid Batista. Batista stated right off that he and Undertaker are not friends and they don’t get along. But he does hope he beats Khali tonight, because Batista wants Taker at his best. Batista said he was laying it all on the line at Survivor Series. Short and to the point.
-Coming up, Matt Hardy & MVP defend their tag titles against the Major Brothers. In fact, it’s next.
[Commercial Break]
5- MVP & MATT HARDY VS. THE MAJOR BROTHERS- WWE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
MVP is wearing a “C” on his suit, for “captain.” A quick roll-up by Brett on Matt got a near-fall. Bulldog out of the corner by Matt for a two-count. Matt then hit the elbow off the middle rope and side effect. MVP tagged himself in as Hardy was setting up for the Twist of Fate. Snap suplex for two by MVP on Brett Major. Both men went down and Brett tried to make a tag. MVP was able to get up and knock Brian off the apron. Playmaker by MVP and that gets the pin.
WINNERS: MVP & Hardy at 2:50. Well that was quick. Strange that they’d put the Majors in that position.
-The two champs argued after the match.
-Another Khali moment: Applying the vice grip to Batista. He faces Undertaker next.
-On camera, Michael Cole and JBL discussed the passing of The Fabulous Moolah. Then the video package from Raw aired.
[Commercial Break]
-Cole and JBL previewed Survivor Series.
6- THE GREAT KHALI VS. THE UNDERTAKER- NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH
Undertaker worked the body, but it had pretty much no effect on Khali. Taker hit Old School like, less than 30 seconds in. He chokeslammed the big man and only got a two-count.
[Commercial Break]
Khali was kicking away at Taker in the corner. Headbutt by Khali. JBL said Taker came out tonight listed at 299 pounds, the first time ever he’s been listed under 300. Taker fought back with punches that looked like Khali was blocking. Khali applied a nerve hold on Taker. Taker fought out with more body shots. He got caught with a back elbow from Khali though. Khali put the vice grip on Undertaker. Taker made it back to his feet and broke the vice grip, first time ever. Another chokeslam for Khali. Another kick-out though. Taker gave the throat-slash gesture, so its over. Khali countered with a blow to the back of the neck. Khali picked Taker up for a two-handed chokeslam and put him down. As Khali was going for the vice grip again, Taker sat up and put Khali in the triangle choke. After being in a for a few seconds, Khali tapped.
WINNER: Undertaker at 9:47. Good way to win for Taker, as it gives that triangle choke more legitimacy.
-It’s only NINE DAYS until Survivor Series? It feels like Cyber Sunday was last Sunday. Yeesh.
-Tonight, Rey Mysterio faces Finlay and Undertaker takes on Great Khali in a No-Holds Barred Match.

Noble got the advantage with a headlock take-over, but Punk came back with some kicks. Punk dove through the middle rope onto Noble on the outside and came up holding his knee.
